Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat will be inducted into the Tourism Tropical North Queensland Hall of Fame on 11 October at the awards night in Cairns, in recognition of winning the Unique Accommodation award for 3 consecutive years.

It is quite an honour knowing the high standards in the tourism industry in the Cairns Region.

Restaurant

Mr Lee’s Kitchen is open every night for guests and public. Mr Lee’s serves his tantalising Laotian cuisine in traditional style as a set menu.

Rainforest Nursery

Rose Gums is now sustainable in growing its own rainforest trees for our own reforestation projects but next year we will supply trees for other reforestation projects on the Atherton Tablelands.

Presently we have 10,000 native trees in our nursery, grown from seed collected in the Rose Gums forest.

Reception

Finally Jon we has a purpose built reception area adjacent to the house.

It is open all hours for check in and check outs, fast internet access, guest phone, brochures, magazines, maps and hundreds of DVDs.

Bird Sightings

Spring is here. The birds and other wildlife are in their mating phase.

Jon has identified 9 Tooth-billed Bowerbird courts on waterfall walk.

The Channel-billed Cuckoos have arrived from New Guinea to lay their eggs, the Victoria’s Riflebirds are displaying and the finches are back in plentiful numbers.
