Kangaroo Trail

For those of you seeking a Kangaroo experience ( all wild, not fenced in), why not follow the Kangaroo Trail during your stay here at Rose Gums!  Ranging from the oldest and smallest, the Musky Rat-kangaroo, to one of the biggest, the Eastern Grey Kangaroo. The Kangaroo Trail provides something for all ages and interests.

Begin with the 8 am free wildlife viewing at Rose Gums to see the Musky Rat-Kangaroo , the most primitive and smallest of all kangaroos. Learn about the evolution of this unique part of Australian wildlife. You will be surprised.

Drive only 15 minutes to the Nerada Tea Factory to see the Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo often seen around the tea-house. Another wildlife gem in this special part of Australia.

Take the Malanda Falls walk to see the beautiful Red-Legged Pademelon Wallabies.

Continue on to Granite Gorge Nature Park, home to the very cute Mareeba Rock Wallaby, which you can up close to and even pat and feed these adorable creatures.

Not far on is The Mareeba Golf Course  where over 400 of the large Eastern Grey Kangaroos. You will need to hire a golf buggy at the club house to do this, ($30.00), and you will be able to get up close for some wonderful photographs.
